Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 7:30pm:   ExCom Meeting

One weekday, Spring, 2008, 7pm:  Beginning Backpacking

Photo by John CalandraWant to learn to backpack?  Join us for an introduction to ultralite and solo backpacking.  This 2-part outing begins with an information session on a Monday in Spring at 7pm.  Meet at the First National Bank branch on Challis Rd. in Brighton, to try out backpacking equipment and learn about some of the new gear available.

If you have gear that others can try on, please feel free to bring it with you.  Don’t purchase any gear before this meeting!

Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 7pm:  Hunters of the Sky          BrightonLib

Click for larger pictureClick for larger pictureSome hunt by day, others by night.  But they are all hunters of the sky:  Eagles, hawks, falcons and owls.  Come and see a live bald eagle, a saw-whet owl, a barred owl and an American kestrel.  Learn what makes them such amazing predators.  You can handle feathers and feet and bones, and come as close as three feet to these beautiful living creatures.  Francie Krawcke of the Leslie Science Center Click for larger pictureof Ann Arbor will be presenting this fine family program.

Click for larger pictureThis program (as always) is free and open to the public.  This program is suitable for all ages.  It will be held at the Brighton District Library (hours and map) (Google directions).  Once inside the building, turn right;  the meeting room is on the left.  For more details, please contact Lee Burton or Roberta Shaw-Reeves, or Rick Pearsall at 810-227-6298.

 

 


General membership meetings are the third Wednesday of odd-numbered months of the year, except no program in July.  All programs start at 7pm at the Brighton District Library, and end between 8:00 and 8:30.  Social hour (sometimes with light refreshments!) until 8:45.
